1st Menstrual Hygiene Day Symposium 2025

Theme: Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Menstrual Health and Hygiene

To mark Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025Hokkaido University and University of Melbourne jointly hosted the 1st Menstrual Hygiene Day Symposium, bringing together speakers and participants from Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Zambia, and Cameroon.

The symposium explored global and local challenges in Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) through interdisciplinary, semi-academic, and creative approaches—aligning with the global theme “A Period-Friendly World.” Sessions highlighted policy insights, community practices, Indigenous perspectives, and artistic expressions, underscoring the value of cross-cultural collaboration.

All members of the Human Ecology Laboratory actively participated in the event as oral presenters and were involved in organizing the symposium.
